What is Holistic Living?

The concept of holistic living and natural healing is one that I only recently began to hear and learn about. Now that I have spent a few years studying Complementary Therapy, made my own life more holistic and experimented with alternative healing, I feel fully equipped and passionate about sharing my knowledge and personal experiences. I want this blog to be a space where I can shed some light on, and educate others about, this wonderful and enriching way of life and by doing so I also hope that I can bring a community of like-minded people together.



I went back and forth on what my first post on this blog should be about and eventually decided that we should start all the way at the very beginning before diving more deeply into various topics. So, what is holistic living and natural healing?


Holistic living has been around since the beginning of time and was the only way people knew how to live and heal themselves. Living a more natural life and making use of alternative healing therapies is reemerging into society. With the world and its people living in a time of extreme imbalance, there has never been a greater need for the holistic health approach. People are beginning to demand medical alternatives and are actively seeking better options for their personal wellness.


A holistic lifestyle involves taking care of,and nurturing, your entire self- your body, mind, soul and environment. It is about having an awareness of how these parts all connect and influence one another and how having a balance between them can lead to you living a healthy and fulfilling life.


Living holistically is about making healthy choices for your body and mind, being intentional with your thoughts, words and actions, and taking the time to focus on your health and general well being. It involves regularly incorporating self-care, self-awareness, healthy and sustainable growth, mindfulness and education.


A holistic lifestyle is a way of living that enables an entirely happy and healthy life. This way of living increases mental clarity and energy, decreases stress and anxiety, helps you develop more self-awareness and brings you into alignment with the highest version of yourself.


Holistic health also takes a much more natural approach to disease. It aims to treat the person as a whole and not just the symptoms. Holistic health makes use of multiple healing techniques, such as herbalism, aromatherapy, crystal healing, homeopathic remedies and much more. The aim of holistic healing is to bring the body out of dis-ease and back into balance. Again the connections between the body, mind, soul and environment is extremely important and plays a crucial role in the healing process.


Holistic health has an extensive history and I feel as though some of its roots have been forgotten or changed in our modern times. The reemergence of this way of healing and living is greatly needed but I think it's also important to stay true to where it came from, give the much deserved credit to the cultures and countries it originates from and continue to share this knowledge with the rest of the world.


So this is my mission. I will continue diving deep into learning about these holistic healing techniques, where they came from and how we can use them today in the hopes of bringing some peace and balance back into the world. Learning and experiencing the benefits of this way of living has already changed my life in so many beautiful ways and I can't wait to continue this journey of self-discovery, learning and healing, with you alongside me.
